Welcome to the fanlistings.org approved fanlisting for The Three Stooges. The Stooges was a comedy trio from 1923 to 1975. Although always considered to be the favorite among Stooges fans, Curly is also misindentified as one of the original Stooges. He wasn't, Shemp was actually one of the original Stooges. Shemp left when he got fed up with the way their manager, Ted Healy, was treating them. It was then that Curly joined the trio. Shemp, Moe, and Curly were real life brothers. Shemp was first with them from 1923 to 1932, and then Curly joined them until 1947. The other less known and less popular members of the Stooges were: Ted Healy, Joe Besser (1947-1956), Curly Joe DeRita (1958-1975), and Emil Sitka (1975). Moe is the only member to have been a Stooge from the group's entire conception. But when Moe died in 1975, that's when the Stooges officially ended. There were 190 short films of the Stooges and made apperances in 27 feature films. To most every Stooges fans the real Stooges were Moe, Larry, and Curly. Though absolutely no one could replace Curly, many fans...myself included...considered Shemp to be an adequate replacement for Curly.
